The voice the room follows

Maya started singing in her family's gospel choir at seven and fronting bar bands at seventeen. Her Nightreel audition lasted one chorus — the band stopped the song halfway through and offered her the job on the spot.

She writes most of the band's lyrics in notebooks bought at truck stops, and her between-song stories have become as famous as the choruses. No More Love, her fastest-ever write, took eleven minutes.
